Story adaptation & Visual Concept
Little Bird is my graduation project from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts 2019. It is a visual concept for animation and a story based on the book The Little White Bird by J.M. Barrie (1902). I worked with the book as an adaptation, where I took the liberty to make some ajustments to the story and characters.
James Williams is a lonely bachelor and retired from the army. His only company is his dog, Pathos, and his great imagination. When he meets the young boy, David, his life changes and together they go on adventures in Kensington Garden and come up with the character Peter Pan. Spending time with David, James realises his own potential and learns to get out of his shell.
The parallel story of Peter Pan, follows baby Peter as he flies out of the nursery and into Kensington garden where the fairies live. Peter is a character that deals with some of James' own insecurities, like feeling different and like an outsider, but Peter learns to be happy and everyday is play with the fairies.
I wanteds to make an intro video to show the mood and style of the film, even though it wouldn't be made into a real movie. I made small animations to add life and movement, and the music was made by Louise Linea Ghaul Bentsen.
